Synopsis

A young couple are thrust into a savage wasteland when they trek deep into the wilderness on a honeymoon canoe trip. As they set up camp and party on an isolated lake, Nicole hears a car approaching down an abandoned logging road. When she makes the fatal mistake of trespassing to take a closer look at their neighbours, the newlyweds become targets in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse. The Honeymoon is “an intense no-budget thriller” with “surprising plot twists” (Bill Brownstein, The Montreal Gazette). Winner of two Best Feature Film awards, The Honeymoon was shot in the woods of Ontario with a skeleton crew and no access to electricity or running water.

Robert John Rowatt was born in Toronto, Canada. He graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours Degree in Film and Video Production. He lives in Toronto with his wife, Jenny Armour, and daughter and enjoys music and remote canoe trips.

Filmography
Rob Rowatt has worked in film and video for the past twenty years. He has directed a number of short documentary and experimental films. The Honeymoon is his first feature film. His next film, currently in post-production, is a feature documentary on the world famous magician Doug Henning and his foray into politics with the Natural Law Party.

Jenny Armour
Executive Producer
Jenny Armour is an award winning brand consultant and graphic designer. She lives in Toronto with her husband, Rob Rowatt, and their daughter. The Honeymoon is her first film as producer.

Barry Lavender – Pa
Co-producer
Barry Lavender is a veteran actor and graphic designer who has worked in the film industry for over fifty years. Early in his career he hand painted wild west signs on the set of Robert Altman’s McCabe and Mrs. Miller.

Laura Keightley – Nicole
Laura Keightley is an actor and multi talented artist from Toronto. She sings in the band The Caraways.

Max Ingrao – Mark
Max Ingrao has acted in many films, TV and stage productions. He teaches drama and sings in the band Redline.

David Squires – Clay
David Squires is an actor, stunt choreographer and martial artist. He has appeared in many films and stage productions.

Logan Brown – Ferris
Logan Brown is an actor and standup comedian who has appeared in numerous films and plays.

Anne Shepherd – Sissy
Anne Shepherd works as a psychologist in Toronto and has acted in many films and plays over the past four decades.

Katie Hedalen – Ranger’s wife

Oliver Heinrich is the founding member and producer of the band Starhaus. He is a talented storyboard artist and painter who owns and operates an art gallery in Toronto.
